World Masters 2007:

Congratulations to Bob Cella for his stellar performance at the World Masters Games held in Italy this year. Bob completed the 10000 meters in 1:04:57 and the 20000 meters in 2:15:31
Boston Marathon:

Stephen Kimmel competed in the 111th Boston Marathon and completed the race in 5:06:53.
John Evans 50K Houston (Jan 9,2005):

Out in Katy (west outskirt of Houston), a few brave folks came out to challenge themselves in the 31-mile race, and we also noticed a handful of folks in the 20K and 5K races. Held in picturesque Bear Creek Park, the event was a good opportunity for our walkers, judges, and volunteer staff to shine. Dave Gwyn put on another super weekend for walkers. Day before the race, Bruce MacDonald (previous trainer of US Olympians) gave a classroom RW clinic and Emmitt Griggs conducted a USATF-officials certification class for the attending Gulf officials. Race day was perfect weather wise, and the very flat, dynamic park course favored good walking in a very serene atmosphere.

Houston Senior Games: April 10, 2005

Bob and Gary lead the pack.

One might think that races for people over age 50 would be dominated by folks in my age bracket (50-54 years old). ONE WOULD BE WRONG!

In the Houston Senior Olympics race walks yesterday on the Rice University track, the walkers out front were from the age 65-69 crowd. Juanita Rogillio was first woman in the 4600m (was supposed to be 5000 meters, but someone figured 11.5 laps was plenty for everyone) race walk, then won the women's 1500m race walk. Bob Cella was first finisher overall at 4600m at 31:30, schmoozed a while, then went home. Soon after, John Knifton showed up and won the men's 1500m in 9:53. Can't wait until I'm old enough to win some races!
